The Virginia opossum is the only marsupial found the United States. Opossums have a pointed snout, two-foot body, and a long hairless tail that is typically one foot long. Opossums are typically shy, and solitary animals. They typically come together to mate and the males will leave immediately after mating.
As a baby, an opossum is about slightly bigger than a mouse. Baby opossums typically wander out of their mothers pouch and hang on the hair of their mothers. Young opossums are easily tamed but they don’t make good house pets. As adults they can be unpredictable and nasty, and are not affectionate animals.
Opossums eat an assortment of plants, and animal matter such as garbage. Their diet includes, but is not limited to, fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, eggs, worms, small fish, insects, mice, frogs, and the occasional snake. Natural enemies of the opossum are owls, bobcats, hawks, panthers and dogs.
If you have an opossum that is infesting your Orlando property whether it be residential or commercial, then Advanced Wildlife Trappers can help. Do not approach the animals. Opossums are aggressive animals. Call today, and a representative will be out to help you. 866.921.0999

You may think I am being a little dramatic, but the threat is there. If you are unaware of the rat threat ask any of the local pest control experts. The experts have been dealing with the alarming increase in the rat population as of late. The environment here in Florida has been assisting in the population boom. The high rain levels that have spread across much of Florida is to blame. The more rain we receive, the more the rats’ habitat will thrive. Water is the key to it all. The foliage grows higher and faster. The rats’ food is mostly made up of fruits and grains, and most trend to thrive in the presents of water. The rats’ also love the extra cover it provides from their predators. If you suspect a rat issue in your Orlando home you should call the experts at Advanced Wildlife Trappers. Waiting days could just complicate your problem. The average rat family can produce up to 30-50 young in a three month period. The destruction they can do is sometimes irreversible. They only need a hole the size of a nickel to make their entry in your home. Once inside, time is working against you. The rat removal experts at Advanced Wildlife Trappers not only remove the rats, but they seal off the entry points, and sanitize the area of infestation. If you have a rat problem in Florida you need to give them a call. To set up an appointment call them at 866.921.0999 or on line at www.crittergone.com. You’ll be glad you did.

To most people if you mention the word bat they instantly think about vampire bats. The reality is that bats by nature are very shy and gentle, but sometimes they do come in contact with humans. Humans always initiate the contact and in some cases they carry rabies. The problem is that bats are a very important member of our society. The average bat consumes about 3,000 insects a night. With all the standing water we now have in south Florida, they will be quite necessary. The issue comes in when their numbers increase, and that is what we have going on in many areas in Florida. So now we understand why we need bats.
Question?… What if the bat colony makes its home in or around your home? Although bats serve a great purpose they can also cause a great headache. The droppings (known as guano) from a colony of bats can make a mess, and the smell can be unbearable. There was a house in New York in 2007 that reportedly had over 3,500 lbs. of guano in its attic after only a few months of infestation. Bottom line we need bats but not in our homes. Bat infestation is a real issue and the profesionals at Advanced Wildlife Trappers have the answers. There are laws in place to protect bats in Florida, and they follow all proper guidelines when removing the colony. If you have any questions or need to set up an appointment please call us at 866-921-0999 or at crittergone.com Advanced Wildlife Trappers is currently assisting with bat issues in the Hollywood, Ft. Lauderdale, Lighthouse Point, Coral Springs, Pompano Beach, and other South Florida locations.

The answer to that question is a resounding YES! They play a beneficial role in our Florida ecosystem as they dine on insects, rodents, rabbits, and other small prey. However, that doesn’t mean you want them in and around your Orlando, Jacksonville or South Florida home. There are 45 species of snake in Florida but only 6 of them are venomous and a danger to family and pets, the other 39 are basically harmless.
If you find a snake in your Orlando home and don’t know whether or not it is venomous, the safest bet is to leave it alone and call your Central Florida Wildlife removal experts at 866.921.0999 where a Critter Gone or Advanced Wildlife Trapper representative will ask you a few questions and suggest the best course of action. If you decide you want us to come out and deal with the situation for you, we can do that as well.
Note that Florida snakes are not aggressive and unless cornered they will usually take off when you approach. Snakes like to bask in the sun to warm their bodies so you might encounter one that’s too comfortable to get up and go. Remember, they are cold blooded animals and use various methods to warm themselves - sometimes a warm porch, a rock or even under your vehicle might be a comfortable spot.
Most snakebite victims are bitten on the hand or arm while handling the snake. It is much safer to allow the Orlando professionals at Critter Gone - Advanced Wildlife Trappers handle the problem for you instead. Remember, if you want a free consultation about your snake or critter problem; give us a call at 866.921.0999.
